Athletes need recovery to perform. Why would Corporate Athletes be any different? We need to care for ourselves if we want to harness our potential. Burnout destroys our ability to maintain focus. We lose resiliency. Our work suffers.
We MUST put structures in place to prioritize our own renewal. When you need to centre yourself and actively recover from adversity, harness the power of “The Renewal Trifecta.”
- REST: It’s simple — take a break. Nobody can work 12, 14, or 16 hours straight and still feel productive. Your body has a natural capacity for stress before things start breaking down. A daily ritual around rest helps your body and mind recover.
- POSITIVITY: Are you focusing on negative feelings? When you’re stressed, this is natural. But it only results in self-sabotage. Sustainable success requires an emotional stamina centred on positivity.
- MEDITATION: Mental stamina is critical, which means you must take care of your brain. Complex decision-making requires attention and focus, and just 15 minutes of meditation can help strengthen both.
It is up to you how you make space for renewal in your life. Your commitment does not have to be intense, only intentional. Find your own balance and determine what works best for you.
